What is Data Hygiene?

There is much more to data hygiene than just cleaning and maintaining your data. Data Hygiene means keeping the information that is on your computer clean. Viruses and other malware can steal data that is on your computer.
You shouldn't save data on your computer that is confidential. Confidential data should
be removed from your computer as soon as possible in order to prevent access by malware.

Another key component of data hygiene is keeping a minimal number of copies of data. The more copies you have saved to your computer, the higher likelihood that something will happen to one of them. Always make sure you know the location your data is being saved to on your computer.
By being aware of your data and keeping it clean, you can ensure that your organization stays more secure.
